  • “…Architecture seeks not only the minimal ruin of the landscape but something more difficult: a replacement of what was lost with something that atones for the loss. In the best architecture this replacement is through an intensification of the place, where it emerges no worse for human intervention, where culture’s shaping of the land to specific use results in a heightening of beauty and presence. In these places, we seem worthy of existence.” W.G. Clark

Home Patterns essentially started when a few of our designers were working with affordable housing developers to design sustainable home plans. These plans had to fit into the pre-war neighborhood character of midtown Atlanta. In fact, some of these same plans on this site were conceived during that period with these three principles in mind:

    Affordability, Sustainability, and Context

Since then, Home Patterns has been influenced by many great designers and has continued to evolve into a fairly unique website. We have looked all over the web and have not been able to find providers of smaller, more affordable, home plans of character. Generally the web-based plan sellers are selling the same old, charmless suburban housing. We like to think that you want more than that.
